Recognizing inequalities

00:15

"Is recognizing inequality the first step towards a solution?" I'd say yes.

00:22

I don't think it's obvious, especially when things seem to be going well.

00:29

My company has always done well, apart from during COVID.

00:34

When there are no problems, you don't feel the need to look inward and see whether something's wrong.

00:41

I think when things are going well, that's actually the best time to look inside and understand what could...

00:48

...improve.It's something we're genuinely putting into practice.

00:53

It's a family-run company, but also multinational and very multicultural.

00:59

We have people with very different circumstances.Clearly, while respecting the rules that unite us, it's important to recognise the things that make us different.

01:11

That's not only a chance for mutual enrichment, but also a way to take a critical look and see if there is equality in treatment or not.

01:22

And that's exactly what we're doing. We haven't got gender equality certification yet, but we've done an internal review.

01:33

For example, I can say that at management level we currently don't have a strong female presence, and clearly this has led us to conduct internal assessments regarding workloads, family responsibilities, and so on.

01:49

It's a specific topic we've shared with our head office, and it's currently being reviewed. Because now, more than ever, as a company,we see it as essential to represent every gender, every individual, at heart, since it's a company that's both multinational and truly multicultural.

02:12

There's still plenty of work to be done here too. We'll be refining our analysis,in line with European legislation, which involves us in a series of assessments, and we're more than happy to do them,as it's a real chance to raise our standards in this area.

02:33

It's clear that Human Resources is deeply involved in this, and we'll do it with support from all the departments involved.

02:45

But yes, acknowledging it is the first step, because it could easily go unnoticed, as we said before:"Everything seems fine, so why change?" But that phase of awareness, becoming truly conscious of it,is always the first step, and in my view, the hardest one.

03:05

But it's where everything begins.
