Oh!French sign language.Hello! How are you?How has your family influenced your career path?

60:26

That's a very good question.I'll come back to sign language later, but I'm purely an HR person.

60:31

I've been working in human resources for 20 years.

60:33

It is sometimes said that HR professionals who come from other professions who are best suited to HR.from other organizations. This is not my case.

60:39

I did HR training, worked in HR, and since I was very young and from a very early age, I knew that I wanted to work in human resources.

60:47

Did my family play a role in this?I think so.First of all, I come from a family of entrepreneurs.

60:52

My grandfather started a business, a transportation group.

60:55

My father and his brothers developed this company.

60:58

My father left it back when he was in high school.

61:01

In any case, I discovered the life of a leader at a very young age through my father.

61:05

I discovered the complexity of governance, particularly within families.

61:09

I also discovered a connection to work, a work ethic.

61:13

My father is someone with incredible work ethic. Is it too much of an investment?

61:19

Maybe, but in any case it's an investment in the work,in terms of attachment to teams and colleagues.

61:24

So I was born, at least into an organization where I lived this entrepreneurial life, but it was balanced out through my mother's profession.

61:32

My mother is a nurse, was a nurse.A difficult job, a complicated job.

61:36

A profession is subject to organizational tensions, lack of resources, bullying,an environment for these famous behind-the-scenes jobs that we know are complicated and difficult jobs.

61:48

And so I ended up living my childhood between these two worlds, someone who has the power to decide, the power to describe a strategy, the power to set things in motion, to lead teams, manage the complexity of an organization, commit to it,to create jobs, to make people want to follow him, to move forward with him.

62:07

And then, next to them, someone who finally finds meaning in their work.

62:12

Because nursing is a meaningful profession, with real societal impact, but it comes with a rigid system that is imposed on them. And sometimes the conditions are just terrible.

62:22

And so I quickly realized that the role of HR was essential in organizations.

62:27

Helping a leader build a good vision.Helping a manager to ensure that employees are involved in a project to ensure that governance and the organization function properly.

62:40

And HR made sure no one was left behind.Supporting everyone and ensuring a safe and secure working environment.

62:49

When I say "secure", I mean the right psychological support that allows everyone to do their job in healthy conditions.

62:55

There is a lot of talk about mental health at the moment, but also about working conditions, skills development, and helping each person grow in their role.

63:04

So I was immersed in these two worlds, and then another element was added.

63:08

My big sister. My older sister has been deaf since birth.

63:12

And so, I quickly found myself confronted with the challenges of inclusion and the challenges of exclusion.

63:18

I quickly discovered that you could be sidelined, that you could be made to feel like you were nothing, invisible in organizations. When you're job hunting with a disability, things can get complicated.

63:28

An internship is also complicated because you sometimes need help from others,to communicate, to exchange ideas.

63:34

And so, in the end, that experience only strengthen my belief in HR.

63:37

They aren't just here to support organizational performance, but to ensure the right working conditions, uphold the framework, and most importantly, ensure that everyone finds their place within an organization.

63:55

Inclusion is not just a fad, it's not just a passing trend. I'm about to get political.

64:01

This isn't "woke" trend that you hear about on social media.

64:04

It's a real societal issue. How's my business doing? I'm managing to make it perform well.

64:10

By enabling everyone to feel good in their job and in their role, and that I make sure no one is left behind.

64:19

It's applies to people with disabilities, to those who come from underserved neighborhoods, to seniors,to young people, it applies to everyone.

64:28

And so, in fact, that is where the real challenge lies.

64:29

And so that's what I think shaped me very early on, at least.

64:33

My desire to work in HR comes from wanting to help organizations to function while always combining performance and what I call,, because both are essential to me.

64:45

So yes, I think my family played a role in my career choice.

64:49

The desire to be entrepreneurial, the desire to believe in the value of work and in the value of a company even though companies can be bad.

64:58

But in fact, a company is there to create jobs,is there to help everyone find meaning in what they do,in the value of what they produce, while allowing everyone to have the right conditions, the right working environment, and not forgetting anyone.

65:11

So yeah, anyway, I just wanna say,if we tie it back to my job, to consider recruiting nowadays, when you are recruiting, always ask yourself the question "Am I considering everyone?" with the actions you implement.

65:22

Are they accessible to everyone? Is the video I'm shooting today accessible?

65:27

Does it have subtitles? There you go, that's the first point.

65:30

Will my sister be able to watch this video? That's my first question whenever I ask candidates to apply through AI systems where they end up talking to a bot instead of a person.

65:40

OK, how does deaf person go through that process? What about someone who's mute?

65:44

How does a person with disabilities do this?My online testing system.

65:48

It is accessible to visually impaired people via the mobile app.

65:52

In fact, all these questions that we often forget, when in fact they represent many potential candidates, many skills, many people and individuals who ultimately want to join your organizations and can bring you a lot of value.
